Eating a Mediterranean diet reduces brain shrinkage and prolongs brain health by five years says a study

A study published in the American Journal of Neurology (Oct 2015) on 674 subjects has found that adherence to a mediterranean diet can reduce brain atrophy by up to 5 years. The diet which had the greatest effect was one which had higher fish and lower meat consumption. The brains of the subjects were analysed by MRI scans to determine brain volume and cortical thickness.

The message from the study was that “Eating at least three to five ounces of fish weekly or eating no more than 3.5 ounces of meat daily may provide considerable protection against loss of brain cells equal to about three to four years of aging,” Yian Gu, PhD, of Columbia University in New York said.

Ketone supplementation show moderate improvement in Alzheimers disease

A recent article published in the Journal of Neurochemistry (2015) has shown that moderate improvements in Alzheimers Disease can be achieved through raising circulatory Ketones. It has been suggested that this counteracts the effect of impaired neuronal glucose metabolism. One reason for the impaired glucose metabolism may be early destruction of the noradrenergic brain stem nucleus, locus coeruleus, which stimulates glucose metabolism, at least in astrocytes. KETOACTIVEEenergy has been designed to raise circulatory Ketone levels.

Omega 3 and B Vitamins work together to reduce brain ageing

A recently published article in The American Journal of Clinical nutrition (July 2015), has highlighted the importance of Omega 3 on the function of B Vitamins, to reduce the rate of cognitive impairment. B Vitamin treatment to control brain atrophy was only shown to work in subjects with high Omega 3 status. KETOActivemind combines high dose 1g Omega 3 and B vitamins in a tasty shot to maximise the absorption of both of these key ingredients for the brain.

Mango reduces body fat, plasma glucose and lipids on a high-fat diet

Mango’s have many bioactive compounds, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Research conducted on mice fed a high fat diet showed that mango prevented an increase in fat mass and improved glucose intolerance by 35%. Also the mango lowered insulin resistance. This research suggests that including mango in a balanced diet may help with weight control.

Vitamin D deficiency linked to severe heart disease

There is a growing body of research which links low levels of Vitamin D to severe heart disease. In the largest body of research (with 1484 subjects), found that those subjects with less than 10 ng/ml of Vitamin D in the blood had a 2 fold increase of suffering from severe heart disease. A diet rich in Vitamin D and undertaking moderate exercise out in the sun is advised for everyone, with or without cardiac disease.

KETOActiveMind contains not only 100% RDA of Vitamin D but also 1050mg of DHA and EPA Omega 3, in the form of an emulsion for maximum absorption.

Blueberry compound reduces body fat

A component of blueberry and grape (Pterostilbene) has been shown to significantly reduce body fat by increasing fat oxidation in the liver. This recent research published in the Journal of agriculture and food chemistry was conducted on rats fed a high fat diet with 15 or 30mg per kg of body weight, pterostilbene, but shows potential for understanding the mechanism for controlling obesity. Pomegranate may help control neuron inflammation associated with Alzheimer’s disease

Pomegranate juice has been shown to have numerous benefits. A recent research article in Molecular Nutrition & Food research Sept 2014 has shown that Punicalgin, a pomegranate polyphenol can help reduce neuron cell inflammation. The research demonstrated that the antioxidant properties of Punicalgin, has potential for its use against neurodegenerative disorders.

Low carb diet improves health related quality of life for those with Type 2 diabetes

A new research paper published in Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice suggests that a low carb diet improves health factors for those with type 2 diabetes. The study conducted over 2 years compared a low carb diet with a low fat diet. Both groups lost similar amounts of weight, but the low carb group had better health. A coffee a day may keep Alzheimer’s at bay

A recently published article in Neurobiology of aging has found that moderate caffeine consumption may help reduce the decline of Alzheimer’s disease. The mouse study showed that 0.3g / l of caffeine in the drinking water eased some of the pro-inflammatory and oxidative stress markers associated with Alzheimer’s disease and improved results in a memory test.

Omega 3 improves exercise efficiency

A recently published article in Bioscience, Biotechnology and Biochemistry (Kawabata, 2014) suggests that a daily dose of 3.6g of fish oil can improve exercise efficiency.

In a double-blind study, the group of healthy male subjects, supplemented with EPA-rich fish oil, experienced a decrease in oxygen uptake needed for sub-maximal exercise. They also perceived the exercise as being easier.

This points to an increase in exercise economy, which is linked to an increase in exercise endurance.

A sachet of KetoactiveMind contains 3.5g of high quality fish oil rich in EPA and DHA in a tasty shot.
